My name is Sadie and this is Project Homeward Downes. Join me as I guide my neurodivergent twins through the journey of homeschooling, while nurturing their individual viewpoints and promoting their personal development.
As a teacher I have worked with many students over the years. Using my M.Ed. in Instructional Design, I have put forth my best effort to make sure that each learner received the instruction they needed to succeed. That being said, educators are ALWAYS learning, adapting and changing their tactics for their students. My heart has always been with students that didn’t conform to a certain style of learning-students who didn’t fit ‘in the box.’ These students faced obstacles daily, and my goal was to provide love, education and a whole lot of patience. I firmly believe that God places special children in our lives for a reason, and it’s up to us to set an example of understanding and acceptance!
This is a very down-to earth-story about homeschooling in a Christian home with modern-education strategies. Along the way I will provide lesson plans that have worked for me, accommodation techniques for your children, and tips that will help you understand the ADHD brain.
This blog is a homage to every person who has a child with ADHD in their life. I have been in your shoes as a parent and as a teacher, and have experienced many intense emotions through it all. For those who have felt misunderstood in this journey, this blog is meant to inspire and lift you up!
Thank you,
Project Homeward Downes
